Darlene, our Safety & Road Maintenance Officer met with Brent Brocksome (President of River’s End HOA), Renee Robinette, Jon Wasson from ACHD and myself to begin the first stage of our plan to address safety and maintenance issues on Island Wood Drive.
We have scheduled an 8-day speed study to commence this month. In addition, Darlene and I will meet with the Maintenance
Project Manager at ACHD to discuss our options for removal of the pavers along Island Wood Drive and chip sealing of all the roads within our community sometime in the spring.
Once that phase of the project is completed, ACHD will install road calming devices and trim the trees along Island Woods Drive that are overhanging the road. This project has been a long time coming, but it will be encouraging to see progress made. Of course, we will all experience some degree of inconvenience during the project, however, we do believe that the end result will be a much safer and quieter roadway that will benefit all residents in Island Woods and our neighboring communities.
We are pleased to have a new Board Office, Darlene Travis, who will be coordinating our work on road safety issues and the maintenance of our roads. We will work with ACHD to schedule a number of community meetings to better understand our options, especially in regard to "road calming devices" and the repair and/or elimination of the pavers along Island Woods Drive.
MEETING TO BE HELD AT EAGLE CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH AT 6:OO PM (660 E CIVIC LANE)
