ISLAND WOODS COMMITTEES & CLUBS
Residents are tasked with being aware of how their activities negatively
impact our ponds:
DRAINAGE INTO THE PONDS: Runoff from Island Woods’ streets drains into our ponds and the ponds are used to irrigate our common area lawns and gardens.
FERTILIZER & OTHER LAWN TREATMENTS: These products can end up in our ponds through runoff into our drains, as well as close proximity to our pond shorelines.
FEEDING OF WATERFOWL: The feeding of ducks, geese and swans can result in the spreading of disease among waterfowl and it also causes the build up of
phosphates in the ponds. This nutrient imbalance requires extensive
treatment to restore a healthy pond balance.
LITTER AND POOL DRAINING: Litter should be properly disposed of and chlorinated water from pools and spas must not be drained into the gutters, since this water will drain into our ponds.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE: The amount of car wash products used for onsite car
washing should be minimized to avoid creating a sheen of oils and soap
on our pond surfaces.
FISHING: We invite our residents and their guests to enjoy fishing our ponds. Residents are to wear lanyard permits and to accompany their guests while fishing. Please review our Fishing Policy by clicking the DOCUMENTS tab.
